Featured in this lot is this counter top chalkware tobacco cigar store Indian circa mid 1900's. The cigar store Indian features a wonderfully and professionally crafted painted chalkware construction. Historically, these statues would be set at the end of a mercantile countertop to signify and advertise where cigars and tobacco can be purchased. The chalkware features a Native American man draped in a trade cloth covering and holding a barrel of cigars witch his hair down while standing on a stand. The stand shows the advertisement that reads 'Cigar' - 'Tobacco' on the front of the stand. The condition of this cigar store Indian is good with a small section of damage to the front right corner of the sculpture and in good overall condition. The measurements of this cigar store Indian 33 3/4" x 8 3/4" x 8 3/4".
