The lot features a hide and trade clothe doll with beadwork and a claw necklace from the Crow of the 19th Century. This small doll shows a hide construction with sinew and trade thread sewing, trade clothe silk shirt, red stroud blanket leggings accented by a silk ribbon beaded necklace with small original badger or wolverine cub claws along with green heart Hudson Bay beads. The piece further shows glass trade seed beads adorned throughout including greasy clear, greasy white heart Cheyenne pink and cobalt. The piece also shows real human hair, an early doll feature, along with trade brass used for earrings. The piece has a nice patina and is in good condition with some bead loss and dark patina. Provenance: From a historic Eastern Montana American Indian Collection, where the piece was found to be an authentic original, one of the finest collections of American Indian weaponry and antiquities in Montana. 9”L by 4.5”W.
