The lot features two hide and trade clothe child’s dolls from the 19th Century Crow Native American Indians. The first shows a dark blue trade stroud blanket dress with red ribbon edging on an Indian hide with period correct glass trade seed beads on the moccasins and facial features with real human hair and finished with a dentalium shell cape. The second doll also shows an Indian tanned hide construction with red stroud trade blanket dress having a ribbon edging and chalk white seed bead adornment on the dress made to represent Elk teeth along with period correct seed beads on the moccasins and facial features as well as real human hair. Both are sinew and trade thread sewn. Provenance: From a historic Eastern Montana American Indian Collection, where the piece was found to be an authentic original, one of the finest collections of American Indian weaponry and antiquities in Montana.
