This lot provides you with a collection of eight Crow Native American Indian teepee ties or drops, from a Crow man named Wooden Legs. The drops are based on trade harness leather, and secured to the teepee with tanned Indian hide ties. Each of the eight drops has three segments, each wrapped tightly with sweet grass, and capped with deer dew claws. Inserted into the hollow dew-claws is mineral ocher died sweet grass loops, and red trade wool fringe. Sweet grass is traditionally thought by indigenous people as one of four sacred medicines, used to purify the home, and to remind the peoples of the gentleness, love, and kindness of mother earth. The ties are accompanied by a photograph of Wooden Legs teepee, lining the entrance of the teepee. The teepee ties are in very-good condition, and originate between 1870 - 1890. The ties are approximately the same size, and measure 8 7/8" long, and 2 3/4" wide.
