The lot features a unique homesteading implement that has been altered into a war club tomahawk by a Crow Native American Indian. The piece dates to the 19th Century. The piece shows a solid wood handle shaft with iron blade that is secured to the club with cast iron brackets riveted together. The piece was originally a "Prim Tool" used by homesteaders. The club head was sharpened to a round edge and the end shows nine solid brass square shank trade tacks, a true attribute of its early age. The piece was recovered from Pony, Montana, a known common hunting ground of the Montana Crow, Blackfoot, Gros Ventre and Pend d' Oreill and Salish. The altered implement blade of steel makes this a formidable weapon. The piece shows an even patina and is in solid good condition. Measures overall 18"L x 4"W.
