The lot features an original hand carved solid wood bow attributed to the Lakota Sioux Native American Indians from the 19th Century. The bow shows a single piece of solid wood construction that has been scrapped and carved. The wood shows a dark tight grain and is possibly ash. The ends each shows a traditional notch for the draw string. A single side of the bow shows a smooth surface and the other with a worn finish, a sign of a strap of sinew being applied and then disintegrating over time. The piece is of a large size which would have been used by an adult male for hunting and possibly war. The piece shows overall solid condition with some loss to finish from age. Measures overall 53.25"L x 1.5"W.
