The lot features an original hand carved solid wood bow attributed to the Lakota Sioux Native American Indians from the 19th Century. The bow shows a single piece of solid wood construction that has been scrapped and carved. The wood shows a dark tight grain and is possibly ash. The ends each shows a traditional notch for the draw string. A single side of the bow shows a smooth surface and the other with a worn finish, a sign of a strap of sinew being applied and then disintegrating over time. The piece is of a large size which would have been used by an adult male for hunting and possibly war. The piece shows overall solid condition with some loss to finish from age.
