Fancy, custom engraved/carved presentation .44 caliber flintlock Kentucky Pistol. This pistol was made by famed maker of extremely high quality modern and replica arms Pedersoli of Italy and was imported by Replica Arms of Marietta, Ohio. This outstanding 1780s style pistol features a 10 ½” profusely, professionally engraved rifled barrel. The exposed top three flats of the barrel display this fine engraving along with the above mentioned markings. It is fitted with a brass front sight with corresponding notched brass rear sight, of which both are set in dovetails for windage adjustments. The lock plate, hammer, frizzen and pan are all beautifully color case hardened and the hammer retains the all important sparking flint. The trigger guard, ramrod thimbles, ramrod tips, forend cap and side plate are all of mellow brass. The side plate on the left side is engraved in script lettering “Dragon” over “(G.B.).” The entire walnut grip is superbly relief carved with a vine motif on each side set off by a punch-dot background. The butt also has this punch-dot carving. There is also some light carving to the front of the wood ahead of the trigger guard. Interestingly, the ramrod thinbles are set into a wood underib which on standard firearms is almost always metal. Overall, a very special fancy engraved and carved Kentucky flintlock pistol at home in the finest of early frontier displays or on the black powder firing range!
