Featured in this lot is this original watercolor titled "Saddlin' Up" by Montana artist Dan Cody Miller born in 1888 and died in 1970. Dan (Cody) Muller was born in Choteau, MT in 1889. His father was a free lance scout with Buffalo Bill Cody and when his father was killed by a horse when Dan was age 9, Buffalo Bill adopted him as his own son. He spent the next 18 years working on Cody's ranches and participating in his Wild West shows. He met C.M. Russell, who influenced him to pursue a career in art. He sold early paintings to tourists in Yellowstone Park, but quickly moved on to much larger adventures, such as painting murals for an exhibit in the 1933 World's Fair. he also authored 4 books, which include his illustrations, an illustrated for a number of other famous authors and feature writers. The watercolor shows a ranch hand with saddle blanket already laid, throwing his saddle onto his trusty mount for a day of hard work in a arena fenced by logs. The artist signature is shown in the bottom left hand corner. The condition of this original watercolor is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage and shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this watercolor painting is 31 3/4" x 25 3/4" and the visible artwork measures 23 1/2" x 17 1/2". The collective weight of this painting is 9lb 12oz.
