Included in this lot is a Deer Lodge, Montana Prison made headstall, circa 1890. This fine, vintage headstall shows high-quality hitched construction with natural horsehair in dyes of black, brown, and tan. This piece is one of only a few examples of braided leather or rawhide produced in the prison. The ends of the headstall show natural horsehair tassels. The headstall is in fair condition, showing signs of wear. The headstall is full size.
