The lot features a set of hide beaded child's moccasins dating to circa 1870 from the Delaware Native American Indians. The moccasins are comprised of soft supple Indian tanned hide in a traditional Delaware pattern with one piece construction with intragal ankle flaps whicha are further covered in old trade clothe and pipeing. The ankle and top of the foot show traditional period correct glass trade seed beads from the 19th Century including colors of greasy yellow, chalk white, red white heart, light blue and semi-transparent blue. The set is trade thread sewn and is in well preserved condition with soft hide, little to no bead loss and no major damage. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector, Bruce was also the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman, which was both part museum and gallery, this piece is directly from the collection.
