Featured in this lot is this portfolio called "The National Parks Centenial Portfolio" from the Sierra Club by Dennis Stock born in 1928 and died in 2010. The portfolio includes 12 gravure prints of National Parks and include the following titles: 1. Redwood National Park, California - 2. Canyon de Chelly National Monument, Arizona - 3. Yosemite National Park, California - 4. Everglades National Park, Florida - 5. Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming - 6. Saguaro National Monument, Arizona - 7. Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado - 8. Acadia National Park, Maine - 9. Great Sand Dunes National Monument, Colorado - 10. Olympic National Park, Washington - 11. Point Reyes National Seashore, California - 12. Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona. Dennis Stock was born in 1928 and died in 2010 and was an American journalist and professional photographer. Stock was born in New York City, to Fannie and Fred Stock. His father was Swiss and his mother was English. tock served in the United States Army from 1947 to 1951. Following his discharge, he apprenticed under photographer Gjon Mili. In 1951, he won a first prize in a Life magazine competition for young photographers. That same year, he became an associate member of the photography agency Magnum. He became a full partner-member in 1954. Stock met the actor James Dean in 1955, a few months before the latter's sudden death. He undertook a series of photos of the actor in Hollywood, Dean's hometown in Indiana, and in New York City. The condition of this portfolio is good and well preserved with some wear to the box it is incased in but otherwise is in good and well preserved condition. The overall measurements of this portfolio box is 17 1/2" x 14 1/2" and the average measurements of the gravure prints inside are 14" x 17". The collective weight of this portfolio is 2lb 10oz.
