For your consideration is an original State of Montana, County of Beaverhead warrant of arrest, dated June 17, 1918. This warrant is for the plaintiff John Doe for an assault to be brought in justice court Horsepraire, Township before S.B. Howell. Howell was the Justice of Peace and issued this warrant to any Sherriff, Constable, Marshall, or Policeman in Montana to bring John Love in to his office at Howell Ranch. John Doe arrest warrants are the type of warrants where law enforcement doesn't know the name of the person, but the accused is known by sight. This warrant shows Dillon Examiner Print in the top right corner and is hand signed by S.B. Howell. On the back, it shows that the warrant was received and fulfilled by Deputy W. O. Churchill on June 18, 1918. This is a very unique and collectable piece showing in great condition for its age. The warrant shows original inked handwriting and signatures. It measures 8 ½” x 7".
