DWM marked and double dated German Luger with rare 5 7/8” barrel in 7.65 Luger caliber (.30 Luger). This was a scarce commercial model clearly stamped with its year of manufacture 1918. It is further stamped 1920 indicating it was a post World War I German government buy-back from civilian ownership. This was the first step in disarming the German population which at the time held an enormous amount of arms from the recently ended war. All such buy-back arms were stamped with the 1920 date. Many were then re-issued by the government to the police, navy and other agencies. This is a wonderful condition example with all metal parts having the matching last two digits of the full serial number 1969. Additionally, it retains all the proof marks including the “crown N’ firing proof, other proofs and “DWM” marking (Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken). This example also retains a beautiful blue finish, original sights and lovely correct and desirable “straw” coloring on the trigger and safety lever. It has finely checkered walnut grips and wood-bottom magazine. It is in mechanically excellent condition with a bright, sharp bore. A wonderful matching example full of history! This pistol qualifies as a Curio & Relic hand gun, and requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check. Serial Number: 1969
