Featured in this lot is this original oil on canvas painting by British artist E. G. Wippell born in 1869 and died in 1961. Ernest George Wippell (1869–1961), sometimes signed E. G. Wippell, was a British painter celebrated for his detailed and charming depictions of birds, poultry, and game animals. Working primarily in watercolor and oil, he captured the peaceful rhythms of rural life and animal husbandry with precision and affection. His work has appeared in auctions, with subjects ranging from chicken coops overflowing with chicks to elegant studies of fancy pigeons. This piece shows a chicken coup with numerous chicks feeding. The painting shows fine detail and accomplished artistic ability. The painting has been signed by the artist in the lower left corner as shown. The condition of this oil on canvas is preserved with part of the trim holding the painting to the frame showing broken sections and shows some wear to the wooden frame consistent with age but otherwise shows a preserved condition.
