Featured in this lot are nine sterling kitchen tools from various makers and locations circa late 1800s. The first piece in this collection is a large, unmarked sterling ladle. The ladle shows small beads of sterling as decoration around the outer edge of the entire neck and features the letter "B" on the top of the handle. The bowl is deep and wide and features a small lip on the edge to minimize spills when pouring. The second piece in this collection is an asparagus server made by Elkington & Company in Birmingham, England circa 1830s. The company was founded by George Richards Elkington and his cousin Henry Elkington in the early 1830s. Over the course of history it became very successful and was one of the prime producers of silver plating. Elkington received various royal warrants of appointments, and also an Imperial and Royal Warrant of Appointment from the emperor of Austria. The asparagus holder shows the makers mark on the back of the neck reading "Elkington & Co.". The front of the handle shows initials reading, "RJP". The asparagus holder shows two curved pieces of sterling going over the main spade of the utensil to hold the asparagus as you pick it up. The third piece in this collection is a Dutch made salt shaker. The salt shaker shows a sterling construction with sterling bead accents towards the top and near the bottom going around the circumference of the salt shaker. The top of the salt shaker shows thirteen small holes in a star shape used for pouring the salt out. The top can be twisted off for refilling. The bottom shows a Dutch stamping and reads, "Sterling 2". The fourth piece in this collection is a large sugar or salt shaker made in England. The shaker shows a heavy sterling construction and features intricate cut out designs in the top where the salt or sugar would come out. The top can easily be taken off to refill the large basin. The bottom of the shaker shows a candle stamp and another stamp reading, "England". The fifth piece in this collection is a small, plated nickel silver baby food pusher made in Sheffield, England. The food pusher is a utensil for a baby or small toddler who is just learning how to use utensils and may not have the mechanical ability. With the pusher, the child can push food onto a fork or spoon and learn to feed themselves. The food pusher is marked on the back of the neck reading, "J. L. Silver Plated N.S. Sheffield England". The top of the handle reads, "Vasthi". The sixth utensil in this collection is a sugar tong marked "JHS" and "BP". The sugar tongs show intricately detailed floral designs on the sides with the makers marks on the interior. No town mark or date mark is present. The last three items in this collection are small decorative sterling sugar or salt scoops from Mexico. The scoops show intricate floral designs on the handle, while the backs of the handles are stamped "Sterling 925 Mexico". The items in this collection show good condition overall with some slight wear from their age and years of use but no signs of obvious damage are present. The items measure from 12" L x 3 11/16" W to 2" L x 7/16" W. The collection weighs approximately 498 grams.
