For your consideration is a fine wicker creel with great craftsmanship showing a tightly woven construction and aged leather. The basket shows a nice weave, and is adorned with leather around the rim of the lid, wrapped around the handle, and supporting the underside. Additionally, the basket has a leather tool pouch mounted to the front, and a two point strap attached to the back side. The basket shows good condition for age, though the handle, and cross strap show some cracking. This vintage creel shows markings of " Made in British..." and includes a fish ruler on the top of the basket. The leather straps show signs of use and the remainder of the origin and ruler markings have faded with age. This piece has lots of wonderful character and could still be used today as the straps are all still intact with the fasteners, or it would make a nice display item for a “Sportsman's" collection. The top latch strap has disconnected from the worn leather. The creel is 14” wide at the base and is 8” tall and 6 1/2” deep. The shoulder strap is made from thick leather that is 1 3/4” wide. The opening to the creel is 11 1/2" wide and 5 1/2" deep.
