Included in this lot we have a Early Wolf Mining Safety Lantern manufactured by Wolf Safety Lamp Co. of America, INC, New York, USA. This lamp is one of the most popular Wolf designs, employing a glass enclosure, wire gauze on the top-interior, and a metal bonnet exterior to protect the flame. This safety lantern originates from the early 20th century. It also has a brass hanging or carrying handle on the top ring. The front of the piece is also marked with a plaque reading Wolf Safety Lamp Co. and indicates "Wolf Made in USA" on the glass cylinder. On the bottom is a fold out arm that you crank and it turns the spark wheel inside the glass as well as the wick adjuster. The lamp was designed to be used in mines without risk of starting fires. The lantern shows good condition overall with some wear across the piece indicative of age and use. The lamp measures 10 3/4" tall with a diameter of 3 1/2".
