Featured in this lot is this early vintage Caucus Kazak Afganhistan knotted wool rug. The rug features a wonderfully and professionally crafted cotton hand knotted construction. The rug shows a border with geometric patterns adorning the rug with a light red field, along with coloration of yellow, light blue, green, and darker blue. Kazak is in the Republic of Armenia, directly to the northwest of Lake Sewan. “In weaving terms, Kazak is probably the most famous area in the Caucasus, for the best of the rugs produced there…combined stunning geometric designs with fabulous colors derived from high-quality dyes. As trade routes expanded and became more populated, Kazak rugs made their way to Europe, Asia and eventually the Americas, so that by the 1800s and 1900s these rugs had captured the admiration of collectors and museums internationally. The condition of this Caucasian Kazak rug is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this Kazak rug is 40" x 57".
