This is an excellent Eastlake style walnut burl cylinder roll top desk dating to the 19th Century. The 1800’s roll top desk shows a fantastic cylinder design and high craftsmanship with excellent walnut hardwood and walnut burl veneer. The desk shows eight drawers along the side towers of the desk and adorned with beautiful floral leaf hand carved handles that accent the drawers marvelously. Inside the roll up compartment there are four pull out drawers with a button accented handle for each with eight cubbies above with a compartment centered between the cubbies. The roll top desk shows an incredible secretary desk attachment which is both used practically for writing and locking the drawers along the tower-like legs of the desk shut when fastened in place. underneath is a larger compartment for storage with two doors which swing outwards. The fronts of each drawer, the cylinder roll top and the side raised panels each have an excellent walnut burl veneer, a truly artistic addition in very good condition. The Eastlake movement was an American 19th Century architectural and furniture design style started by Charles Eastlake and is considered to be part of the late Victorian era. The measurements of this desk are 52 3/4" x 59" x 31 1/2".
