Available in this lot we have a pair of Egyptian fully beaded purses originating from the 1930's. In 1922 British archaeologist Howard Carter discovered of King Tutankhamun's tomb in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt. The wealth, beauty and artistry he uncovered astounded the world. Everything from fashion to architecture embraced this new and wonderful 3000 year old imagery. Both purses display metal clasps across the top with metal carry chains. The first purse displays a female figure at the center with animals and plants on either side. The purse shows a variety of colorful beads including red, blue, teal,black, grey, green, and metallic brown. The interior of the purse shows a nice dark brown cloth liner. The second purse displays a desert scene with two pyramids, the sphinx, and a monolith with hieroglyphic text as the sun rises in the background. The purse displays colors of brown, black, red, burnt red, yellow, purple, blue, and a burnt gold. The interior of the second purse displays a cloth lining with colorful geometric patterns. The purses show good condition overall with some light wear due to age. The first piece measures 8" tall by 6 1/4" wide with the second piece measuring 8" tall by 5 3/4" wide.
