This is an original authentic Elva Nampeyo (1926-1985) Hopi Native American Indian polychrome pottery bowl. Elva Nampeyo, also known as Elva Tewaguna, was an American master potter who was born in the very same Corn Clan house where her grandmother Nampeyo of Hano resided. Elva was also the daughter of Fannie Nampeyo and Vinton Polacca. She learned her trade from her grandmother and her mother, two of the most renowned Hopi potters. The bowl shows a cream background with a black/brown traditional geometric pattern and is signed by hand “ELVA NAMPEYO”. Overall the piece shows very good well-preserved condition. Overall the piece measures 2.75”H by 5”W diameter. Provenance: From a 90-year collection out of Central Arizona in the Coconino National Forest.
