Featured in this lot is this 1940-50s Erhard Jauch Uhrenfabrik clock movement with a Westminster Chime, set in a beautiful unmarked wood case. The movement of the clock is marked "Foreign / P. 13 cm" showing that it was most likely imported from Germany into the UK under the United Kingdom's Merchandise Marks Act of 1926. The Merchandise Marks Act's primary objective was to ensure that British consumers were not confused about the origin of the products they wished to purchase. An industry or trade association could secure an Order in Council and unmarked products would have to bear an indication of origin before import and/or before sale in Britain. The movement shows a swinging pendulum and small padded hammers that strike the chimes. Housed in the case is a universal clock winding key with five different sized keys and is marked, "11 3 5 7 9". The clock face shows a scene of two men and a woman dancing around a room, wearing brightly colored clothes of red, blue and yellow. Both hands move freely and the clock chimes every fifteen minutes. The wood case shows inlaid wood designs in the front and a door to the movement in the back. The piece shows good condition overall and is in working condition. The clock measures 5 1/8" L x 10 3/4" W x 8 1/2" H and weighs 5 pounds and 8 ounces.
