For your consideration is this original photo of a school house and the students taken by F.E. Baker in Greeley, Colorado late 1890s / early 1900s. Garrett H. Baker and Elmina Clapp had their son Frank E. Baker in September 1849 in Wisconsin. He married Harriet Davis on September 1, 1872, at her sister's home, the Kilbourn ranch outside Loveland, Colorado. By 1891, the Bakers had made Greeley, Colorado their permanent residence. In addition to his Greeley studio, he established a branch gallery in Loveland. Baker sold his business to the Stewart Brothers in 1902 and launched his real estate profession. Frank E. Baker died on November 10, 1939, and was buried in Loveland, Colorado's Lakeside Cemetery. This photo shows students of the school house standing in front of the school house posing for a photo. Some hold their bikes, while two sit on a horse drawn wagon. Two teachers stand near the front door of the school house. The bottom left of the photo is marked reading, "F.E. Baker, - Greeley, Colo.". It shows good condition overall with slight wear present from its age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage is noted. The visible photo measures 5" L x 8 1/8" W, while the entire piece measures 8" L x 10" W. It weighs under 6 ounces.
