Featured in this lot is this 1910 First Edition of "Fighting the Traffic in Young Girls: Or War on The White Slave Trade" by Ernest A. Bell. "Fighting the Traffic in Young Girls" is an early 20th-century book on the campaign against prostitution. It was written and edited by a Chicago minister and features articles from a Chicago District attorney, several ministers, social workers, and others active in the campaign against "the white slave trade. An excerpt from the title page reads, " A complete and detailed account of the shameless traffic in young girls...How to save YOUR GIRL. How to save YOUR BOY...A book designed to awaken the sleeping and protect the innocent." The book includes thirty-two pages of striking photographs. The fact that this book was written over 140 years ago about a curse that still exists today is amazing. The green coloured clothbound gold gilt stamped hardcover book is in nice condition, scuffing noted to cover edges, gold gilt on front cover pictorial border is mostly faded. Spine loose from boards, intact pages exhibit tanning and foxing consistent with the age of the book, moisture damage observed. Measures 6.25"W x 8.5"L x 1.5"D.
