Offered in this lot is a Rare Signed First Edition of "Indian Legends And Other Poems", by Hanford Lennox Gordon, 1910, publisher The Salem Press Company, Salem, Mass. Author's note on the "preface" page. This collection of poetry by Hanford Lennox Gordon draws on the rich traditions of Native American folklore and mythology to create a compelling portrait of the American landscape and its people. Gordon's lyric voice and vivid imagery bring to life the stories of the Navajo, Hopi, Apache, and other tribes, as well as the natural beauty of the American West. With its mix of historical richness and poetic beauty, 'Indian Legends & Other Poems' is a must-read for anyone interested in the literature of the American frontier. Hanford Lennox Gordon (1836-1920) was an American poet whose work emerged during a period of significant social and cultural change in the United States. Writing in the latter half of the 19th century, Gordon's poetry often engaged with themes of nature, spirituality, and the human condition. The brown cloth bound gold gilt stamped illustrated textured hardcover is in nice condition, scuffing and slight staining observed on covers. Intact pages exhibit age tanning and slight foxing. Measures 6.25"W x 9.25"L x 1.5"D, weight is 2lb.
