Included in this lot is a Frank McCarthy "Where Others Had Passed" print numbered 10/65. This image depicts a Comanche war party bound for home. They are led by a scout wearing the wolf headdress traditionally representative of his position. On the return from a successful trip, it was customary for them to stop a few miles from home so they could paint their bodies, blacken their faces and put on adornments as signs of victory. The rocks surrounding the party show images of musicians, warriors and people on horseback chasing either buffalo or elk. The print measures 17 3/4" x 16 3/4". The oak frame measures 25.75" x 30.5".
