Featured in this lot is this Vintage Portfolio of Frederic Remington's, 'Buckskins', published by Penn Prints, 1956. "'Buckskins' Portraits Of The Old West... The Original Folio Of Eight Color Prints Superbly Reproduced". The portfolio contains eight prints: "A Breed", “An Arizona Cowboy", "A Cavalry Officer", “An Army Packer", "A Trapper", "Old Ramon", "A Sioux Chief", and "A Cheyenne Buck". Each print features Remington's original signature and a couple are dated 1901, also marked "1956 Penn Press". Frederic Sackrider Remington (1861-1909) was an American painter, illustrator, sculptor, and writer who specialized in the genre of Western American Art. His works are known for depicting the Western United States in the last quarter of the 19th century - the Old West - and featuring such images as cowboys, Native American Indians, and the US Cavalry; images that shaped the world's perception of the American West. He produced over 3,000 signed paintings and drawings. Most of them were illustrations, but many were made as art as he turned away from the publishing world and accomplished masterful art. Penn Prints of New York did reproductions of famous fine art from all over the world in the 1950s and 1960s. The condition of these prints is very nice, with no obvious signs of damage. Original portfolio envelope is in good condition overall, scuffing noted to cover edges. Measurements of each print is 12.25"W x 16.25"L.
