Featured in this lot we have a French Model 1777 percussion cap conversion Military musket originating from 1845. The musket was originally manufactured as a flint lock action, but was later converted to a percussion cap in the 1840's to 1850's. They were later replaced by more accurate rifled muskets. The rifle displays 42 1/2" long smooth bore barrel, percussion cap hammer system, metal ram rod, lock plate, trigger guard, and hard wood stock. The barrel is stamped across the side with 45 and a 3 a little further down the barrel. The lock plate and metal accents show inspection and manufacturer stamps. The barrel and lock plate shows a warm patina and little to no pitting with the stock showing a dark finish. The musket shows a three stage hammer with some light wear on the percussion cap nipple due to use. This firearm qualifies as an Antique and does NOT require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
