Featured in this lot is this hand crafted leather & split willow fishing creel made by Frisbie in the early / mid 20th Century. The Frisbie family created handcrafted fishing baskets in Portland, Oregon, from the early to mid-twentieth century. The Frisbie family had a tiny workshop where they carefully built each creel, frequently from locally available materials. Their designs were often characterized by elaborate leatherwork and durable split willow structure. This creel shows a thick, split willow construction with leather accents and components. The willow shows a green color from being stained by the makers. It features a nice leather padded shoulder strap connected to the back of the creel. The back is stamped reading, "Frisbie / Portland, ORE. " 19". The creel shows good condition overall with wear present from its age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage is noted. It measures 9" L x 16" W x 10" H and weighs 2 pounds and 8 ounces.
