Offered in this lot are Vintage "Frontier Times" Magazines, circa 1950s to 1960s, (24). Founded in 1923 by J. Marvin Hunter to preserve the firsthand accounts of early settlers and pioneers. "Frontier Times" magazine was a monthly journal dedicated to the history of the American West and Texas. It is highly regarded by historians for featuring stories written by eye-witnesses and actual participants of frontier events. Issues typically cover topics like Indian wars, cattle drives, train robberies, ghost towns, and genealogy. The history of the American West, often called the "Old West" or "Wild West," is a defining part of American identity. Driven by the idea of Manifest Destiny, thousands of pioneers moved westward in the 19th century seeking land and opportunity through the Homestead Act of 1862. This expansion led to violent clashes and the forced displacement of Native American tribes who had inhabited the land for millennia. The era is famous for figures like Jesse James, Billy the Kid, Wyatt Earp, and Sitting Bull, whose stories have been romanticized in countless books, films and television shows. The magazines are mounted in blue cloth bound three-ring hardcover binders, with title on both the front covers as well as the spines. Magazines exhibit age tanning throughout. Binders measure 8.375"W x 11.875"L x 2.5"D, collective weight is 9lb, 10oz.
