The lot features a large Native American cowboy hat with Indian hide beaded hat band and Ghost Dance revival beaded Waterbird from the Plains of the 20th-century. The hat appears to be beaver felt with a classic Geronimo tall pattern, also called a Billy Jack hat with tall domed tapering top with flat round rim. The hat has a wide Indian tanned hide hat band which is fully beaded with a U.S. Flag patriotic pattern in red white hearts, chalk white, and greasy light blue. The flag star section, instead shows an artful Matlese cross design. There are three square sections in blue and white for the star section with three sections of banded red and white stripes. One one side there is a large Ghost Dance revival Waterbird effigy beaded figure showing the bird with wings spread in chalk white and greasy light blue. The hat is well kept and thread sewn. Provenance: Ex-Pook and Pook auctions, from a private Jackson, Wyoming collection. Measures overall 18-inch diameter front to back and 17-inches side to side by 9-inches tall. The hat has an inside circumference of around 23 7/8-24-inches which is around a 7 3/8-7 5/8-inch hat size, but due to the taper could also fit smaller sizes of 7 1/8-7 1/4 (all an approximation). Brim is 4.5-inches.
