Featured in this lot is this GIA certified, 40.84 carat tanzanite and platinum necklace with GIA and AIGL paperwork. This necklace shows a polished, stamped, and tested platinum pendant with a pear shaped frame, lovely basket lattice under gallery, and a platinum rope chain; the pendant shows an 'Orianne' hallmark with a 'PT950' stamp next to the hallmark. The center stone is a magnificent example of pear brilliant/ modified brilliant cut pavilion tanzanite gemstone with measurements of 24.41 mm x 18.59mm x 13.41mm, a total weight of 40.84 carats, bluish violet coloration, and a transparent likeness. Tanzanite is a very rare precious gemstone that is only found in the Usumburu Mountains that border the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. It was originally discovered in 1967 by Tiffany & Company, who named the stone Tanzanite. This example is unique due to its exceptional pleochroism (an optical phenomenon in which a stone has different colors when observed at different angles). The pear shape pendant is lavishly decorated with 31 natural round brilliant cut diamonds with measurements of 2.0mm - 3.0mm, a collective weight of 1.69 carats, a color gradient of G – H, and VS2 - SI1 clarity.
