Featured in this lot is this 1910-1930s hand painted Glacier National Park sign. The sign has been hand painted and reads, "Silver-Run Mountain. / Altitude 12,680 feet." in red/orange paint on a black background. This sign would have hung near the trailhead of Silver-Run Mountain showing travelers the location and the elevation of the mountain. Incredible views of the Beartooth Mountains evolve and expand as you head toward the high point at 12,680-ft. To the west the summit of Silver Run Peak rises above the plateau. To the south/southwest the distinctive high peaks of the Beartooth Mountains fill the skyline. The first 2.75 miles of the hike follow the Timberline Trail through a burn area. The sign shows good condition overall despite its antique age and use over the years. There is some paint chipping and cracking throughout but is still in good readable condition. The sign measures 3 11/16" L x 36 15/16" W.
