This lot includes a Signed Lithograph titled, "Gray Wolf" by Daniel Van Zyle. "Gray Wolf Canis lupus field notes & sketches from Alaska, Minnesota, Washington, Wyoming & British Columbia". Cofounder of the Hawaii Artists Society and one of wildlife art’s most prominent print artists, and almost alone in his mastery of the demanding technique of stone lithography, a critic observed that Daniel’s work is united by a keen observation and attention to detail with virtuoso drawing skills that create a pure and precise vision of the beauty and vulnerability of wildlife.” Van Zyle’s stone lithographs and etchings derive their special magic from the dramatic interplay of masterful delineation and romantic idealism. Working with master printers in Washington, Alaska, New Mexico, Hawaii and California, Van Zyle embraces the art of old world by coaxing memorable impressions out of both metal and stone. Dan Van Zyle and his works have been the subject of articles both in national art and wildlife art publication. Known for his works depicting Hawaii's wildlife and island scenery, this departure features the breadth of his skills.
This print is in wonderful condition, the water coloured details are striking and capture the imagination. The professionally mounted, double matted rustic style textured wood frame is also in wonderful condition, no marring noted. Visible art measures 16.25"W x 21.75"L, frame measures 31.5"W x 37"L
