Featured in this lot is this wax elk sculpture circa 1989 by Montana artist Marvin M. Morin born in 1936 and died in 2003. Wax sculpture's, the preparation of finished figures in beeswax by modelling or molding or the use of such figures as a form for casting metal or creating preliminary models. This sculpture features a wonderfully and professionally crafted beeswax construction that shows great attention to detail with texturing to the elk that shows life like features. The wax sculpture is marked 'Marvin M. Morin - 1989' on the base of the sculpture and 'copyright 1989' on the other side of the base. Marvin Michael Morin (1936-2003) was an Native American artist and sculptor. His work predominately features a western theme known for his depictions of cowboys, Indian, horses, bears, elks and rodeo scenes. The condition of this wax sculpture is fair to good with a split in one of the tines and a slight crack in the right hind foot but otherwise shows fair to good to fair overall condition. The measurements of this wax sculpture is 19 1/2" x 16" x 12".
