Featured in this lot is this Greathouse Kuch Station and Tavern "Billy the Kid" artifacts originally from 1880's (excavated between 2001-2003); Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. The display case features a wonderfully shown display of the excavation of Greathouse Kuch Station and Tavern with 13 total cartridges with other variety of metal and glass artifacts present with photographs of the progress of the excavation. The .41 caliber cartridges are believed to be from William Bonney's firearm. The plaque on the display case reads as follows: Artifacts from Greathouse Kuch Station and Tavern - Nov 27, 1880 - Wm. "Billy the Kid" Bonney, David Rudabaugh and Billy Wilson vs. the 13 man White Oaks posse. The condition of this artifact display is good with some slight wear to the paint of the frame but the artifacts and photographs present are in good overall preserved condition. The measurements of this display case is 31 1/2" x 25 1/2". The collective weight of this display case is 13lb 10oz. The display case comes complete with written account of the events of the shootout at the station and shows written Confirmation of Intent of the permission acquired to excavate the private property where the Station resided in 2001--2003.
