For your consideration are two straight razors from two different companies circa mid 1900s. The first is from H. Bokers & Company. The chestnut tree on the Böker emblem dates back to the first small tool company in Remscheid, Germany. Böker tools were so successful that they remained among the most popular German products 100 years after the company's humble beginnings. Due to political unrest and an unsettled military condition, there was a demand for sabers, thus the Böker brothers, Hermann, Heinrich, and Robert, began producing them in their business to meet market demand. Recognizing the demand for various cutting tools and implements not just in Germany but also on a global scale, Hermann Böker immigrated and established H. Böker & Co. in New York, while his younger brother Robert pursued his trade in Canada, subsequently establishing a branch in Mexico in 1865. This branch is still in operation in its country under the name of Casa Böker. The straight razor comes in its original box reading, "H. Boker & Co. Supreme Quality Red Injun No. 101". The handle is made from a resin or celluloid material and shows a black color. The knife is engraved on the blade reading, "H. Boker & Co. Germany / Red-Injun No. 101". The blade shows good condition overall with a small chip present but no other signs of damage noted. The handle measures 5 5/8" L x 1/2" W, while the blade measures 5 5/8" L x 5/8" W. The second in this lot was manufactured by Richard Abr. Herder circa early to mid 1900s. This straight razor shows a resin or celluloid material handle with art deco designs. The blade is engraved reading, "Rich. Abr. Herder / Solingen 17". It shows good condition overall with little wear present and no signs of damage noted. The handle measures 5 3/8" L x 3/4" W, while the blade measures 5 3/4" L x 3/4" W. The blades and boxes have a collective weight of under 6 ounces.
