Featured in this lot is this cast iron fire truck toy manufactured by Hubley Manufacturing Company in the early 1910s. John Hubley founded the Hubley Manufacturing Company in 1894 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Their tagline was "They're Different". They were also known as Lancaster Brand Iron Toys, which produced electric toy train equipment and parts. They relocated to the location after purchasing the Safety Buggy Co. facility in 1909. The first Hubley toys, made of cast iron, were released in 1909 and featured themes such as horse-drawn vehicles, fire engines, circus trains, various dog breeds, tractors, steam shovels, horses, banks, and cap guns. The fire truck shows a silver and red color throughout and features a removable driver and passenger. The white rubber tires are still mostly intact but age and use over the years have petrified, discolored, warped and cracked the tires. The fire truck shows good condition overall with wear present from its age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage are noted. It measures 8 1/2" L x 3" W x 3 3/4" H and weighs 2 pounds and 6 ounces.
