Featured in this lot is this signed limited edition lithograph by Howard Terpning titled, "Crossing below the Falls" done in 1996. This limited edition litho is hand signed and numbered by the artist on the print itself and hand numbered on the original Certificate of Authenticity. Terpning first gained attention with his captivating advertising and story illustrations, film fans praised his movie posters for such classics as The Sound of Music, Dr. Zhivago and the re-issue of Gone with the Wind. But his love of the West and Native American traditions saw his transition to fine art. Howard Terpning is one of the most desired, notable and most lauded painters of Western art of the 21st century and is known for his impressive depictions of the Native American Indian culture. His awards are so numerous and he is honored with them so often, that to list them would require changing the count every few months. To name three would be to cite the highest prizes awarded to Western art: countless awards from the Cowboy Artists of America, the Hubbard Art Award for Excellence, the National Academy of Western Art's Prix de West and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Autry National Center. Terpning is also an Emeritus member of the Cowboy Artists of America. "Crossing below the Falls" depicts two Native American men on horseback crossing the river below Running Eagle Falls at the western end of Glacier National Park. The two men could be in a small hunting or war party, or simply exploring the beauty of the land around them, but the artist's main focus is natures power and the beauty of the falls. The litho shows amazing detail and use of colors. Truly an amazing piece of work. The litho is signed and numbered in the bottom left reading, "Terpning 184/1,000". The litho shows good condition with no signs of damage or wear present and comes in the original paper sleeve with the Certificate of Authenticity. The litho measures 35 3/4" L x 25 1/2" W.
