Presented in this lot is a Hand-Carved African Warthog Curved Tusk Cane. Appears to be eight different African exotic woods used below the handle, including Iroko, Pod Mahogony, Copal, Mukwa, Olive, Missanda and Teak. The Copalwood section has two hand-carved elephants depicted.The lower portion of the cane is turned at the top and tapers down to the tip; end cap is absent. This is a very unique and stunning cane, the curved tusk being approximately 8" long! Warthog tusk canes are especially prized for ivory replacement in canes, jewelry and scrimshaw carvings. The Southern Warthog is native to Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe; there are four subspecies of warthog throughout West, Central, and Southern Africa.
This warthog tusk cane is in very good condition, a natural patina is noted throughout the woods, no obvious marring noted. Measures 38.5"L, handle is 6"W.
