Offered in this lot is a Hand Carved Wildebeest and Springbok Horns Cane. This unique cane has a Wildebeest horn handle and lower sections of Springbok horn separated by sections of exotic African Pod Mahogony wood, a female Springbok horn tip. Found from Tanzania to South Africa, both of these horned ungulates are widespread across Southern Africa. Springbok are antelope members of the gazelle tribe, while wildebeest, also known as gnu, are relatives of sheep, goats, and cattle. Neither animal is in an endangered status as both populations number in the millions! This walking cane is in good overall condition, heavier than normal walking canes. Wear noted throughout consistent with normal use and aging, natural patina throughout Pod Mahogony sections noted, no other obvious marring noted. Measures 34.25"L x 7.5"W handle; Wildebeest horn measures approximately 10"L.
