For bidding in this lot is a large Montana State Seal sign. The Great Seal is hand painted on board, and shows gorgeous color and craftsmanship. Like any Montana state seal, the sign reads "THE GREAT SEAL OF THE STATE OF MONTANA - ORO -Y- PLATA". The seal was adopted in 1865, when Montana still remained a territory. When Montana was granted statehood in 1889, it was decided to use the same seal. The inner circle depicts a landscape of mountains, plains, and forests by the Great Falls of the Missouri River. Additionally, a plow a pick and shovel are shown in the foreground - representing the states industry. Overall, the sign shows very good condition. The sign measures approximately 48" across.
