Offered in this lot is a 1960's era hand woven serape throw from Chichen Itza. Chichen Itza was a large pre-Columbian city built by the Mayas. It is located in Yucatán, Mexico. Chichen Itza was one of the largest Maya cities and it was likely to have been one of the mythical great cities. The city may have had the most diverse population in the Mayan world. The blanket shows a white base with black, blue, maroon, and green bands. In the center of the blanket is a reclining Chac-mool, the Mayan god of rain. Under the Chac-Mool are the words “CHICHEN ITZA”. This blanket measures 84" x 48" with 2" fringe on each end. The blanket is made of cotton and is in very good condition.
