This is a scarce "Souvenir: Yellowstone Park” album published 1889. A charming view book composed of 24 lithographed panels (91 views) showcasing many of the Park's most famous attractions, evidently based on the photographs of F. Jay Haynes. It includes images of Hotel Valley, Old Faithful, the Mammoth Paint Pots, the Great Falls of the Yellowstone, petrified trees, etc. The final two panels consist of "mid-winter" scenes and handsomely depict the Park's wonders after a fresh snowfall. This is one of the earliest known works by Haynes. Frank Jay Haynes was the first official photographer of Yellowstone National Park. The book is marked "Published, by F. Jay Haynes Fargo, DT (Dakota Territory". One page is torn and the pages have separated from the cover, but the majority of the pages are in very good condition. The book measures 7 1/2" x 5 3/4" x 1/2".
