Featured in this lot are a Hohokam cultural tube pipe and sea shell effigies circa 600 - 800 A.D. There are four total pieces in this lot, including a well preserved black ceramic tube pipe. The pipe features diagonal etching to the bowl and graduated grooves down the wall of the pipe bowl. There are three sea shell effigies, including effigies of a bird and a bear, with an eyelet into the base of the effigies; the last shows the likeness of a tooth. Hohokam was a society in the North American Southwest, in what is now part of Arizona, United States and Sonora, Mexico. Archeologists recognize Hohokam as a distinct culture, with constituents nominated as Hohokam people. The condition of this collection of Hokokam cultural items is good and well preserved, with no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of the tube pipe is 3 5/8" x 7/8" x 7/8" and the effigies range from 1/2" x 1 5/8" x 1/4" to 2 7/8".
