Featured in this lot are Hopewell Traditional plummets aged from the Middle Woodland Period and dated 100 BCE to 500 CE. There are two plummets in this collection, with the first showing a very porous surface and a collection tag stating it was found by Greg Brown in Breathitt Co. Kentucky. The second shows a very slick green lace polished granite construction with lovely color and was found in Pulaski Co. Ill. Plummets, or weights, were used to sink a fishing net in the water to catch fish. The condition of this pair of plummets is good and well-preserved for their age, with no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of this pair of plummets are 3 3/4" x 7/8" x 5/8".
