Included in this lot is a Hubley cast iron English bulldog doorstop. The Hubley Manufacturing Company was first incorporated in 1894 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania by John Hubley. The first Hubley toys appeared in 1909 and were made of cast-iron, with themes that ranged from horse-drawn vehicles and different breeds of dogs to tractors, steam shovels, and guns. This piece has been painted black and grey. The body of this piece shows great detail, with indents for the ribs and ripples and muscles around the face and front paws. This piece is actually two pieces of cast iron that is put together with one screw that goes through the hollow stomach of the piece. This piece is in good condition, showing a few chips to the paint on the face and body. The doorstop measures 8 1/2" x 6" x 4".
