For your consideration is this Hudson Bay Company four-point trade wool blanket, circa 1890. This blanket, which shows the company tag that was used in the 1890'S, was made in England. This is a red wool blanket with two large stripes of black dye on both sides of the blanket and four small stripes (points). Although the Hudson Bay Company didn't originate the point system for trade blankets, they popularized this system of quality identification. This blanket shows four points as black stripes on left hand side of the blanket. In the days of fur trapping and trading, a 4-point blanket would be exchanged for 4 beaver hides. The condition of this blanket is good, with no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of this Hudson Bay Trade blanket are 70" x 88".
