Offered in this lot is a pair of Indian resin statues of a brave and a maiden with child, made by Universal Statuary Corp. Universal Statuary Corp. was an American, Chicago-based, statue manufacturer. Jack and Leo Lucchesi were brothers that founded the Universal Statuary Corp in the 1930s. The company produced piggy banks, plaques, and large store displays, including Indian statues for western theme restaurants. They made home decor that is widely collected today. The company employed plastic in the 1970s. Universal was also famous for the contract work performed for Sears, Wards, and many big advertising firms, for their unique 'Point Of Sale' displays and promotions. The brave stands 25" tall (with the base) and is shielding his eyes from the sun as he stands holding his shield with his bow at his feet and his quiver on his leg. The statue of the maiden stands 23" tall with the base and is holding a basket of maze (corn) in one arm and a water jug in the other. The Maiden has a sleeping baby in a cradleboard on her back. The pair of resin statues is in good condition.
