For your consideration are two silver mount Indo/Persian Jambiya daggers circa 20th Century. A jambiya, also known as a shibriyeh in the Levant, is a specific type of dagger with a short curved blade with a medial ridge that originated from Yemen that have spread throughout the Middle East, the Arab world and parts of Southeast Asia. Each region has its own differences in the curvature of the blade; the Jordanian shibriyeh is typically not curved unlike the Yemeni jambiya. The jambiya handle often tells of the social status of the man who wears it. These jambiyas are constructed of silver mount, white metal (a combination of non-precious metal alloys that are often bright and decorative), tin and wood and feature glass stones on the handles and sheaths. The glass stones show colors of red and green, with one blade featuring three glass stones on the sheath and one on the handle, while the other blade shows four glass stones on the sheath and one on the handle. The blades are inscribed but could not be linked to a makers mark or translated. The blades show a nice slight curve towards the tip and show no major flaws, marring or chips. The knives show good condition overall with some slight wear present from their use and handling over the years, but no signs of major damage or wear is noted. They measure from 11" L x 1 9/16" W x 5/8" D to 10 3/4" L x 1 1/2" W x 5/8" D and have a collective weight of 10 ounces.
